A dashcam video from the Bengaluru-Hyderabad highway has reignited conversations about highway safety and reckless driving in India after it showed how a deadly crash on the highway was narrowly avoided.
The clip, which was captured around 4:30 am on October 23, shows a driver narrowly avoiding a deadly crash with a truck after allegedly being forced into a dangerous manoeuvre by a speeding private bus.
The footage, shared on social media platform X by the driver himself, quickly went viral.
Yesterday at 4:30AM, I narrowly missed an accident due to the careless driving of private travel bus on Bangalore to Hyd road.!! Fortunately, I didn't panic. One wrong turn would've costed our lives.!! This is just an example of the accidents costing many lives on the highways… pic.twitter.com/KAfH3vaMdG— Chandra🇮🇳🚩 (@Chandra4Bharat) October 24, 2025

He added, "This is just an example of the accidents costing many lives on highways due to the careless driving of private travel buses."
The post garnered thousands of reactions within hours, with social media users split over who was actually at fault.
Many expressed relief that the driver escaped unscathed. “That near miss sounds like a horror movie you survived with a smile and a sigh,” one user commented, echoing the shock and sympathy felt by many.
However, others were quick to scrutinise the driver’s own actions, arguing that highway safety is a shared responsibility. “You are right, but you should also keep at least 250 meters distance from the vehicle in front of you,” another user advised.
Some defended the bus driver, suggesting that the chaotic road conditions and poor lane discipline among heavy vehicles contributed to the close call. “Nothing wrong with the bus driving. He indicated. If we have to blame the bus for overtaking on the left, then we need to get the slow-moving trucks off the right lane,” wrote a third user on the microblogging site X.
