Addressing the nation, in the 119th episode of monthly programme Mann ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, said obesity is a big concern in India and thereby there is an urgent need to address this worrying trend. "The first step to counter and reduce obesity is to reduce consumption of edible oils by ten per cent," said the PM. He added that by making little changes in our food habits and adding some amount of physical activity, we can battle obesity.
Additionally, recognising India's growing might in the domain of science and technology, he said that the youths should introduce a concept like - 'One day as a scientist', to promote growing scientific temper among India's young population.
Speaking about another key emerging technology- Artificial Intelligence, PM said India was not just leading in the adoption of artificial intelligence, but also shaping how AI is governed. Speaking to the nation, he said that India was not just ready for AI, but the demand for AI-driven solutions was also high in the country. He said this was evident from the fact that the country recorded 3 billion AI-related app downloads in 2024, while the US and China had only 1.5 billion and 1.3 billion downloads, respectively.
"Recently, I visited Paris to participate in a big AI conference. There, the world praised India's progress in this sector... Recently, Thodasam Kailash, a government schoolteacher in Telangana's Adilabad helped us preserve our tribal languages. Using AI tools, he composed a song in the Kolami language. Be it the space sector or AI, the increasing participation of our youth has brought in a new revolution," the PM said.
In the 118th episode of his popular radio programme Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi conveyed a special message to the nation ahead of India’s Republic Day celebrations. The episode not only celebrated India’s rich heritage and accomplishments but also highlighted the nation’s progress in various sectors, including democracy, conservation, youth participation, and selfless service.
A special event is being organised in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur to celebrate the programme. The broadcast will be held at the Vivekananda Pratima Sthal, Kargil Park, Motijheel. The programme will be organised on such a big platform for the first time in the city. People will listen to 'Mann Ki Baat' at 20,845 booths in the PM's radio programme.
