Container crashes into vehicles on Mumbai-Nashik Highway; 3 dead, 14 injured

Three people died, and 14 were injured in a road accident on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway early Wednesday morning. The deceased include two women and one man.

According to a Times of India report, a container traveling from Nashik to Mumbai suddenly lost control near Goteghar in Shahpur, Thane district, at around 4 a.m. While hitting the divider, the container struck two vehicles coming from the opposite direction and a luxury bus parked on the road.

Local Shahpur police arrived at the accident site and, with the help of nearby residents, rushed 14 injured people to a nearby hospital. Three people were declared dead by doctors.

Of the 14 injured, 8 sustained serious injuries.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for a while following the incident until authorities cleared the vehicles from the roadside. The Shahpur police are currently investigating the matter.
