Congress MP Sudha Ramakrishnan's chain snatched in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri

Congress MP R Sudha Ramakrishnan, on Monday morning, was targeted in a chain-snatching incident while out on a walk in the high-security Chanakyapuri area of the national capital, police have stated.

The incident occurred near Tamil Nadu Bhawan, where the Mayiladuthurai MP is currently residing.

According to officials, the snatching occurred in the early hours while the MP was outside the premises. Despite the area being home to several embassies and official residences of state governments, the unidentified miscreants managed to snatch her gold chain and flee the scene.

"A case has been registered and an investigation is underway," a senior police officer said, adding that multiple teams have been deployed to trace the culprits.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and speaking to potential eyewitnesses.

Security has been heightened in and around Tamil Nadu Bhawan following the incident.

Chanakyapuri, considered one of Delhi’s most secure zones, has now come under scrutiny over this security lapse.
