A class 10 student named Nayan succumbed to injuries after a class 8 boy stabbed him with a paper cutter, allegedly to avenge arguments that the two had had in the previous week. According to News18, Nayan suffered injuries to major blood-circulating veins and passed away despite emergency surgery that was performed on him.

The incident that took place at Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad on August 19 has shaken the entire nation to the core. Critical evidence emerged in the case on Wednesday after Dainik Bhaskar was able to access a CCTV footage that showed what transpired after Nayan was attacked.

The CCTV footage showed that at 12:50 PM, Nayan went out from the school’s entry gate with his hand pressed against his stomach, after he was attacked by the other student. However, three minutes later, at 12:53 PM, he was seen entering the gate of the school again, painfully limping.

At 12:54, several students and security guards were seen surrounding Nayan. After two minutes, the school supervisor also arrived on the spot but no one seemed to be doing anything to help Nayan, reports said.

Reports said that Nayan continued to lie on the ground for nearly seven minutes while blood oozed out of his stomach. After a while, Nayan's mother and another woman arrived and took him to the hospital and at 1:11, the ambulance arrived at the school - but it was well after Nayan's mother, along with the other woman, had already taken him to the hospital.

A report by Dainik Bhaskar said that a medical report from Sardar Patel Hospital stated that doctors found a 1.5 cm wound on his stomach but during surgery, it was discovered that two major veins, that are essential for blood circulation, had also been severed in the attack.

The attack on Nayan sparked widespread outrage in Ahmedabad. Several people, including Nayan’s family members, parents of other students and members of the Sindhi community, gathered at the school and demanded accountability from the administration. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also staged protests, News18 reported.
