In a move aimed at easing airfare worries for passengers, Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu on Monday launched ‘Fare Se Fursat’, an innovative scheme by government-owned regional carrier Alliance Air that promises fixed fares irrespective of booking dates.
According to an official statement, the initiative seeks to provide passengers “freedom from the stress of fluctuating airfares” and promote the ease of flying across India. Under the scheme, Alliance Air will offer a single, static fare that remains unchanged even for last-minute bookings.
The initiative will run on a pilot basis from October 13 to December 31 across 25 select routes, with plans to expand if the response is positive. “We will monitor passenger response for the first fortnight. If it’s encouraging, the scheme will be extended to other sectors soon,” an Alliance Air official said.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Naidu said, “The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme perfectly aligns with the UDAN vision of making air travel accessible and affordable for India’s middle and lower-middle classes. It reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of democratising aviation.”
The Minister praised Alliance Air as the backbone of the regional connectivity scheme (UDAN), connecting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities to the national aviation network. “Alliance Air has taken a bold and exemplary step with its ‘One Route, One Fare’ concept. This is truly Naye Bharat ki Udaan—thinking beyond profitability and focusing on public service,” he added.
India’s aviation sector typically follows a dynamic pricing model, where fares fluctuate based on demand, season, and competition—often frustrating passengers with unpredictable last-minute prices. The new scheme, officials said, aims to bring transparency, predictability, and stability to airfares, particularly benefiting first-time flyers from smaller towns.
Reiterating his vision of passenger-centric air travel, Naidu also announced the launch of ‘Udan Yatri Cafes’ at airports, offering tea for ₹10, coffee for ₹20, and snacks for ₹20, to make air travel “more dignified and affordable.”
The statement concluded that Alliance Air continues to play a vital role in ensuring last-mile connectivity and realising the government’s goal of ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik’, making air travel accessible to every Indian.
