CII President Memani welcomes PM Modi's vision for Viksit Bharat

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, calling it a bold and forward-looking roadmap for achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.

CII President Rajiv Memani praised the PM’s emphasis on self-reliance, innovation, and citizen empowerment, stating that the speech highlighted India’s transformation into a confident, technologically advanced, and economically strong nation.

Memani welcomed the announcement of next-generation GST reforms, described by the Prime Minister as a “Diwali gift,” highlighting their potential to improve tax efficiency, enhance compliance, and simplify processes.

“These reforms will reduce the tax burden on citizens and businesses, boost ease of doing business, stimulate domestic consumption, and attract greater investments,” he said.

The CII chief also praised the government’s continued focus on modernizing regulations and streamlining approvals. He said the proposed bill to decriminalize minor offences and the formation of a taskforce for next-generation reforms would lower compliance costs, remove operational bottlenecks, and foster a climate of trust and innovation.

“CII stands ready to work with the government and all stakeholders to advance these reforms, encourage industry participation, and ensure that India’s growth story remains robust, inclusive, and globally competitive,” Memani said.
