Chandni Chowk is a general Assembly constituency in Delhi, where the key political contenders include the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress.

Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi, located near the Old Delhi Railway Station, is one of the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. It is a general category assembly seat and is one of the 10 assembly segments of Chandni Chowk Parliament Seat.

The demographics of Chandni Chowk

The Scheduled castes (SC) comprise 18.41% out of the total population of Chandni Chowk. As per the voter list of 2020, there are 125717 electorates and 133 polling stations in this constituency. Voter turnout was 61.43% in 2020 assembly election. The AAP, the BJP and the INC got 65.92%, 27.6% and 5.03% votes, respectively, in 2020 assembly election.

Chandni Chowk Constituency 2015 and 2020 Winners

In the 2020 Assembly Elections, Parlad Singh Sawhney from AAP won the Chandni Chowk assembly seat with a margin of 29,584 votes. Sawhney was polled 50,891 votes with a vote share of 65.92 % and defeated Suman Kumar Gupta from BJP who got 21,307 votes (27.60 %).

In the 2015 Assembly Elections, Alka Lamba from AAP won the seat and received 36,756 votes with a vote share of 49.35%. BJP candidate Suman Kumar Gupta obtained 18,469 votes (24.80 %) and lost to Lamba by a margin of 18,287 votes.

Candidates for 2025 assembly elections

In the 2025 assembly election, AAP has given its ticket to Punardeep Sahni, Prahlad Singh Sawhney 's son and a Municipal Councillor. The BJP has fielded Satish Jain. Congress has decided to go with Mudit Agarwal, particularly because it is an Agrawal populated region. He is also the son of veteran Congressman and former Chandni Chowk MP Jaiprakash Agarwal.

The Chandni Chowk constituency in Delhi went to polls on February 5. The results will be declared on February 8, along with the other 69 constituencies in Delhi.
