The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on July 3 approved capital acquisition proposals worth approximately Rs 1.05 lakh crore. All ten proposals fall under the ‘Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)’ or Buy (Indian-IDDM) category.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence, the proposals have been granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) and will be sourced through Indian firms.
Among the key procurements approved are Armoured Recovery Vehicles that will assist in battlefield logistics, Electronic Warfare Systems designed to enhance situational awareness and counter hostile threats, and Surface-to-Air Missiles aimed at improving air defence. The council also cleared the Integrated Common Inventory Management System, a tri-services platform that will optimise logistics and supply chain operations across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
In addition to land and air-based systems, the DAC also approved several critical procurements for the Indian Navy. These include Moored Mines and Mine Counter Measure Vessels to improve underwater defence capability, Super Rapid Gun Mounts to boost naval firepower, and Submersible Autonomous Vessels for unmanned maritime operations.
