Caste divide on radar as BJP–RSS plan unified outreach ahead of 2027 UP polls

In a major strategy huddle ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, the BJP and RSS leadership held an extensive coordination meeting at the Chief Minister's residence in Lucknow, signalling a renewed push to align the government’s performance with the party’s electoral blueprint.

BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh chaired the meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, deputy chief ministers, senior ministers and top RSS functionaries. The closed-door meet focused on harmonising policy execution and organisational feedback to sharpen political messaging at the grassroots.

According to a senior leader present in the meeting, the objective is to ensure that "every initiative on the ground reflects our governance intent and our ideological commitment." The leader added, "People must feel both performance and participation from the government and the organisation."

Participants stressed the need to strengthen synergy in key sectors including the economy, education, health and internal security. Ministers have been directed to increase their district tours and act swiftly on grievances.

"We should be more visible, more accessible and more accountable at the district level," a minister quoted Santosh as saying during the discussion.

The leadership also reviewed the progress of the ongoing voter list cleaning exercise and called for aggressive action to eliminate discrepancies at booth level.

Vacant positions in commissions, corporations and boards will be filled soon to improve governance efficiency and ensure dedicated BJP workers are integrated into important roles. Insiders said the move is aimed at boosting both administrative delivery and political outreach.

Strategy to counter caste divide and strengthen Hindu unity

A major part of the discussion revolved around preventing caste-based political fragmentation. The RSS briefed party leaders on its plan to organise a massive Hindu convention in Lucknow in January as part of its centenary celebrations. This event is expected to set the ideological tone before the 2027 polls.

“Our effort is to ensure social harmony and unity among all sections of Hindu society. The organisation and the government will work together on this cultural responsibility,” an RSS functionary said after the meeting.

While speculation has been strong over a possible change in the BJP’s state leadership, sources clarified that no discussion took place regarding a new party president. However, potential adjustments in the council of ministers and certain organisational positions were reviewed as part of performance evaluation.

“This was not a reshuffle meeting. This was a roadmap meeting,” a party strategist said.

As the election cycle moves closer, the meeting marks the beginning of an intensified coordination phase in Uttar Pradesh. With stakes high in India’s largest state, both the BJP and RSS appear determined to move in complete synchrony in the battle for 2027.

Key takeaways from the coordination meeting

• Unified strategy between government, BJP organisation and RSS for Mission 2027

• Push for improved district-level ministerial presence and grievance redressal

• Emphasis on synergy in policy areas: economy, education, health and security

• Acceleration of voter list cleaning and booth-level planning

• Appointments to commissions and boards to strengthen outreach

• Focus on countering caste divide by boosting Hindu solidarity

• RSS to host mega Hindu convention in Lucknow early next year

• Cabinet and organisational adjustments reviewed, but no final decisions
