Navi Mumbai Building Collapse: 2 rescued, 1 body recovered; Search operation underway

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's fire brigade personnel rescued two persons after the building collapse and efforts are on to safely bring out another one, who is feared trapped under the debris, the official said.

A three-storey building collapsed in Navi Mumbai’s Shahad-Belapur village early Saturday morning, leading to an extensive rescue operation by local authorities.

The NDRF reports that two people have been rescued so far, and the search operation is ongoing.

The incident, which occurred around 5 a.m., resulted in two injuries and a large-scale response involving the Fire Brigade and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Kailas Shinde, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner, reported, “The building collapsed around 5 am. It is a G+3 building. Two people have been rescued and two are likely trapped. The NDRF team is here and rescue operation is underway.” Emergency services are working diligently to locate and assist those still believed to be trapped under the debris reports PTI.

Purushottam Jadhav, Navi Mumbai Deputy Fire Officer, added, “We received a call about a building collapse at 4.50 am. Two people have been rescued. Two people are likely to be trapped and a rescue operation is underway to rescue them.”

The collapsed structure was located in the densely populated Belapur area. Emergency personnel have confirmed that two individuals have been rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment. The search and rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency crews continuing their efforts to assist any remaining victims. Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
