Day after she was suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for 'anti-party activities', K Kavitha on Wednesday resigned from the party and her MLC post. She said her brother Rama Rao didn't back her "when malicious campaign was unleashed" against her.
Kavitha was suspended from the BRS - party run by her father and former Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao - after she publicly blamed senior BRS leader T Harish Rao, her cousin, for the federal investigation against KCR, as her father is called.
"Party leadership is taking this matter seriously as recent behaviour and ongoing anti-party activities of MLC K Kavitha are damaging the BRS," the party said on X, "Therefore, party President K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to suspend K Kavitha with immediate effect."

Addressing her first press conference after being suspended from the party, K Kavitha said, "Ever since my release from Tihar jail, have been fighting for various causes."
Sharpening attack against cousins Harish Rao and Santosh, Kavitha told her brother Rama Rao they are not "well-wishers", PTI reported.
She also alleged, during the press conference, that "the CBI probe against KCR is due to corruption of cousins Harish Rao, Santosh Rao."
The decision to suspend Kavitha came after she publicly accused senior party leader and her cousin T Harish Rao of being responsible for the CBI probe against her father.
Kavitha's attacks came after the Congress government decided to order a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project, which was built during the BRS regime. She directly blamed her cousins, former irrigation minister T Harish Rao and former MP J Santosh Rao, for irregularities, if any, in the construction of Kaleshwaram irrigation project.
While she was in the US, Kavitha last month was replaced by former minister Koppula Eshwar as the honorary president of the Telangana Boggugani Karmika Sangam (TGBKS), a Singareni employees' union affiliated with the BRS. He was elected unanimously as TGBKS president. TBGKS has always been viewed as a tool for the BRS to exert its influence in the coal area, particularly as local elections are approaching.
