The Congress has alleged that the BJP deliberately manufactured a "completely fake" controversy to get Parliament adjourned and sidestep discussions on the conduct of Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Varma.

BJP MPs in the Lok Sabha have been raising concerns over reservations for Muslims in Karnataka government contracts, accusing Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of advocating constitutional changes to facilitate the four percent reservation.

Shivakumar, however, has refuted these claims, asserting that he never proposed amending the Constitution to introduce religion-based reservations.

Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan criticised restrictions on free speech while reacting to the controversy surrounding comedian Kunal Kamra. She questioned the curbs on expression and took a swipe at the ruling establishment, alleging that selective action is being taken.

"If there is a restriction on speaking, what will become of you? You are already in a bad situation. There are restrictions on you. You would be told to speak only on certain topics and nothing else, that you should not interview Jaya Bachchan. Where is the freedom of speech?" Bachchan remarked.

Taking aim at the Maharashtra government, she alleged that freedom of action only exists in cases of violence and lawlessness. "There is freedom of action only when there is a ruckus - when the opposition is beaten up, when women are raped, when people are murdered. What else?" she asked.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon on Monday following protests by opposition members, primarily from the Samajwadi Party (SP), over certain crimes in Uttar Pradesh.

As the House convened at 11 am after the weekend break, SP MPs began demonstrating while holding posters, drawing strong disapproval from Speaker Om Birla. He reminded members that displaying posters in the House was against the rules and warned of action if the protests continued.

The Indian Army and J&K Police, this morning, intensified a cordon and search operation in the Saniyal area of Hiranagar following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists.

Officials said that a joint operation was launched last night by J&K Police and troops of the Indian Army's Rising Star Corps to neutralise any potential threat in the region. Security forces have cordoned off the area, and search operations are underway.
