World News Live: India, Russia hold talks on the sidelines of G20 meet
EAM Dr S Jaishankar says " I am very glad we could meet today on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Johannesburg. Such gatherings have provided an opportunity for our interaction even when our ties were going through a difficult phase. We should also recognize that in a polarized global situation, our two countries have worked hard to preserve and protect the G20 as an institution. This in itself testifies to the importance of international cooperation. Since our last meeting in Rio during the G20 Summit in November 2024, there have been some notable developments. Our NSA and Foreign Secretary have visited China and there have been discussions about various aspects of our relationship. These have included management of peace and tranquility in the border areas as well as other dimensions of our ties. I am glad today to have a further exchange of views. India and China are members of the G20 SCO and BRICS. There are also regional and global issues of mutual interest where an exchange of perspectives will be to our mutual benefit. I look forward to our conversation today."

Planning to hold a protest on March 8; 58 union comprising 15,000 workers will take part, says Samsung India Workers leader
Muthukumaran, Secretary, CITU Kanchipuram Secretary and Samsung India Workers leader says, "We have had six rounds of talks till now. The company claims they encountered loss because we staged protest, it amounts to indiscipline but Samsung had been doing everything against labour law. They told us to give training to contract workers. We refused, our workers protested at the place where the 1,500 contract workers were working because the management did not come forward for talks. These are not skilled workers, they cannot do the work of a person who has 15 years of experience. First of all, it is against the law. The quality of the product will deteriorate, and manufacturing will be hit. While holding talks yesterday, the company suspended 14 more people. Our demands need to be addressed, they need to revoke the suspension of the workers, until then, we won't enter the factory. We will be holding the next round of talks on February 24. We will be giving the strike notice day after tomorrow, we are planning to hold a protest on March 8 in Kancheepuram district on behalf of CITU, as many 58 union comprising 15,000 workers will take part in this. If Samsung management doesn't accept any of our demands, our next set of protests will be staging a state wide protest, involving others like shopkeepers to shut shops for a day, farmers union, and others."
