India news Live: 'My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar', says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "...My mother separated me from her so that I could serve crores of mothers like you. You all know that now my mother is not alive. Some time ago, after completing 100 years of age, she left us all. That mother of mine, who has nothing to do with politics, who is no more, was abused from the stage of the RJD, Congress. Sisters and mothers, I can see your faces; I can only imagine the pain you must have felt. I can see tears in the eyes of some mothers. This is very sad, painful..."

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, he said, "I congratulate the mothers and sisters of Bihar for Jeevika Sahakari Sangh and also congratulate Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and the NDA government of Bihar for this wonderful initiative. A major basis of India's development is the empowerment of its women, and to empower women, it is essential that all kinds of difficulties are removed from their lives. That is why we are doing many things to make the lives of mothers, sisters and daughters easier."

Hitting out at Congress and RJD, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar... These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. These are insults to the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country. I know... how bad all of you, every mother of Bihar, felt after seeing and hearing this! I know, as much pain as I have in my heart, the people of Bihar are also in the same pain..."

BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari says, "...We want to ask five questions to Rahul Gandhi. Was he aware of the multiple EPIC IDs of Pawan Khera? Will he call Pawan Khera a vote chor? Will he admit that the Gandhi-Vadra family is against SIR to protect their vote fraud? They promote infiltration...How was Sonia Gandhi’s name in the electoral roll when, in 1980, she was not a citizen of India?... Will he accept that Congress itself is involved in vote chori?... Rahul Gandhi and other leaders involved in this vote fraud should apologise to the nation..."

"We are also working on the next phase of India Semiconductor Mission. I am urging industry to come forward. Our policy is not short term signaling, it is long term commitment. I am also urging states to engage in healthy competition with other states to promote semiconductor industry. We are also working on making sure that the IP stays in India," PM Modi said.

"India is offering end to end capabilities in semiconductor ecosystem. That is why we are getting continued investments. Our journey in the semiconductor ecosystem began late. But nothing can stop us now. Commercial chips will come out of India from this year," PM Modi said at Semicon India 2025, being organised in Delhi.

PM Modi said, "In semiconductor industry, speed matters. The less there is paper work, the more there will be 'wafer work'. We now have 10 semiconductor projects. There is 18 billion dollar investment in these projects. This shows the confidence the world has in India."

At Semicon India 2025, PM Modi said, "The world trusts India. The world believes in India. And the world is ready to build the semiconductor future in India — this is the message that Semicon 2025 is sending out to the world."

At the invitation of PM Narendra Modi, Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore, will pay an Official Visit to India from 2-4 September 2025. This would be Prime Minister Wong’s first visit to India in his capacity as Singapore’s Prime Minister. He will be accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation including Cabinet Ministers and Senior Officials.

During the visit, PM Modi and PM Wong are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions on 4 September 2025. Prime Minister Wong will call on President Droupadi Murmu. EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar and other dignitaries are also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Wong during the course of the visit.

All government and private schools in Jammu division to remain closed on September 2 in view of the weather alerts and incessant rainfall causing landslides in hilly areas. Online classes may be conducted wherever possible, ANI reported.

Two workers died and around 15-20 others were injured after a fire broke out at a dyeing factory in Bardoli in the wee hours on Tuesday. The fire was doused and the cooling process was underway. Search and rescue operations are being carried out.
