Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar reported that a significant drug bust by the Commissionerate Police in response to the Chief Minister’s directives. The police arrested eight individuals and seized 4.4 kg of heroin. The drug network was operating across the border, managed by Pakistan-based smugglers, with drones being used to transport the drugs. Among the arrested were Ravi Kumar and Manjeet, who is an Inspector at an enforcement agency, and Amit Kumar, who ran a hawala network. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities focusing on both Dubai-based and India-based suspects.

West Delhi's DCP, Vichitra Veer, shared details about the case involving a missing person named Sagar. A report was filed on March 27 at Tilak Nagar Police Station, after Sagar's family raised concerns and feared that certain individuals might harm him. On March 30, a kidnapping case was registered, and the police collaborated with the family to follow leads and question potential suspects. During the investigation, an unidentified body was found in Shamli district, which matched Sagar's description. As all those involved went into hiding, police formed multiple teams and conducted raids across Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, but with no immediate success. On April 7, one team gathered solid information about three suspects, who eventually confessed to the crime. The suspects have been arrested and are in police custody, while the investigation continues, particularly in search of the prime suspect, Amit.

The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it targeted a senior Hamas militant in a strike that Gaza's civil defense agency reported hit a residential building in Gaza City, resulting in at least 20 deaths. When questioned by AFP about the attack in the Shujaiya neighborhood, the military stated it had struck a senior Hamas member responsible for planning and carrying out terrorist operations from that area. An encounter erupted on Wednesday in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir after security forces made contact with three terrorists, officials reported. According to Udhampur police, a search operation led by police and other security forces resulted in contact with the terrorists in the village of Jopher, located within the Ramnagar police station area. The police confirmed that two to three terrorists are currently trapped and that the firing is ongoing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today underscored the urgent need to preserve India’s ancient scriptures, announcing the launch of the ‘Gyan Bharatam Mission’, a key initiative included in this year’s Union Budget.

“Unfortunately, many of our scriptures are slowly disappearing. That is why we are going to start the Gyan Bharatam Mission,” said the Prime Minister while addressing the ‘Navkar Mahamantra Divas’ program in Delhi.

“This was a very important announcement in the Budget, but your full attention went to the Rs 12 lakh income tax exemption,” he quipped.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) MLA Tanvir Sadiq today backed the extradition of 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana, calling it a moral and legal imperative.

“If anyone in the country or the world is involved in any kind of terrorism and hurts innocent people, it is our duty to ensure the accused faces trial and is held accountable for his actions,” he said.

Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a crucial meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in New Delhi today to review the implementation of the three new criminal laws in the state.

The meeting is expected to assess Odisha’s preparedness in adopting the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which replaced the colonial-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
