The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday criticised the BJP-led central government over the arrest of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk by the Ladakh Police, calling it an attack on democracy and people's rights. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday termed the reports of activist Sonam Wangchuk's arrest an "unfortunate" step; however, he also said that the move wasn't unexpected as the Central government was "after him since yesterday."

Five workers were killed and as many injured when a structure collapsed at a private steel plant in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur on Friday, police said. The incident took place at the plant of Godavari Ispat Ltd in Siltara area on the outskirts of the capital, a senior police official said. "Soon after being alerted about it, a police team was sent to the spot, and a rescue operation was launched. As per preliminary information, five workers were killed and five others sustained injuries," he said. The injured labourers have been hospitalised, while the rescue operation is still underway as some more people are feared trapped.

In the late businessman Sunjay Kapur property dispute, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, appearing for Priya Kapur, urged the Delhi High Court to ensure confidentiality in handling sensitive documents, noting that although the case is a partition suit, it has attracted wide attention. Rahul Gandhi had challenged the order of the Special MP/MLA Court in Varanasi, which had accepted the petition filed against him. Following the High Court's decision, the case will now proceed to the MP/MLA Court in Varanasi.
