The death toll in the Manipur CRPF shooting incident has risen to three, after a jawan opened fire at a camp, killing two colleagues and injuring eight others before taking his own life. Officials report that the injured jawans are receiving treatment at a hospital in Imphal.

Following the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, police personnel in Imphal East heightened security by patrolling the streets and conducting a flag march in various areas to maintain stability and ensure safety in the region.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak defended the Waqf JPC report tabled in the Lok Sabha, stating that it was created with input from all parties involved in the committee. Pathak says, "The public has understood the negative narrative of the opposition. Members of all the parties were a part of the committee (JPC) and the report has been tabled by taking the opinion of all the members...The Samajwadi Party will have to pay for its negative narrative in the upcoming elections"

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh welcomed the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, saying it was the only viable solution after the BJP-led government failed to restore peace. He criticized the government's response to the violence, which led to over 300 deaths, 60,000 displacements, and widespread property damage. Ramesh also pointed out that despite the situation worsening over months, Prime Minister Modi had not visited Manipur, and the Chief Minister had resigned following a no-confidence motion.

As of February 13th, more than 49.14 crore people have participated in the holy dip. On the same day, 85.46 lakh individuals took the holy dip by 8 pm, according to the UP Information Department.

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan left Jamia Nagar police station, where he had arrived earlier for questioning, to cooperate with an investigation. An FIR was filed against him for allegedly obstructing a Delhi Police crime branch team attempting to arrest Shavej Khan, a Proclaimed Offender linked to a 2018 case registered at Jamia Nagar police station.

Eleven members of a gang were taken into custody by Gujarat police for allegedly opening fraudulent bank accounts used by Chinese cyber criminals to launder illegal funds, officials told PTI on Thursday.

A preliminary probe has revealed the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal has so far received 109 complaints, including four in Gujarat, in connection with these bank accounts used by the gang to dupe victims across India, said a release by Cyber Crime Branch of Ahmedabad police.

The joint parliamentary committee’s report on the Waqf Bill was tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday amid uproar, leading to a brief adjournment following heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches.

Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and other opposition MPs alleged that dissent notes were removed from the report, a claim denied by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.

India's finished steel imports rose to an all-time high in the first 10 months of the financial year that started in April, according to provisional government data reviewed by Reuters on Thursday.

India, the world's second-biggest crude steel producer, imported 8.3 million metric tons of finished steel during April-January, up 20.3% from a year earlier, the data showed.

India remained a net importer during the period, the data showed. India turned net importer of steel in the 2023/24 fiscal year, with imports rising steadily since then and primarily led by China.

A suspected gas explosion at a department store in the central Taiwanese city of Taichung killed at least four people and injured 24 others on Thursday, the fire department said.

The blast occurred on the 12th floor of the building, where construction was taking place, with damage starting from the 9th floor, the department said in a statement.

The food court of the Taichung Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store on the 12th floor was closed at the time due to the building work, it added.

More than 40% of Indians polled in a survey by India Today magazine think U.S. President Donald Trump's second term will be favourable to their country, in findings published a day before Trump meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington.

Trump also enjoys a positive image among most supporters of Modi and his party, the "Mood of the Nation" survey showed, and only 16% of those polled felt he would be bad or disastrous for India. The balance of those surveyed saw Trump as having no impact on the country either way.

The Congress-led UDF on Thursday launched a dawn-to-dusk hartal in this high range district of Kerala over the recent deaths due to wild animal attacks.

A bus carrying 57 Maha Kumbh pilgrims rammed into a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway here, killing three people and injuring two on Thursday, police said.

The pilgrims were returning to Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur after attending the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Paryagraj.  The incident happened at around 6.30 am when the bus rammed into a truck which was parked on the side of the road near Karodia village in Kota district, Assistant Sub-Inspector Hariraj Singh said.

The blast occurred at the food court on the 12th floor of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store in Taichung city. Among the 10 people who were hospitalised, four had no vital signs, authorities said.

"A handful of students called for a protest in the academic block on the evening of February 10. Since then, they have disturbed the peaceful conduct of classes in the academic block of the university and prevented other students from accessing the Central Library and attending classes. These students vandalised university property and were found carrying objectionable contraband items.
