Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday reflected on his years-long partnership with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the two leaders are bound by the ideology of working in national interest and devotion towards the Constitution of India.
Shah, who was in conversation with Network 18 Managing Director Rahul Joshi at the Rising Bharat Summit in New Delhi, said, "When a leader and a party worker work together for a long time, they understand each other's style of functioning, their mentality as well as their behavior. At the end, we have to work in accordance with our ideology."
Shah said that their shared ideology serves as a guideline for them, which is why there has never been any differences between PM Modi and him.
"He (PM Modi) thinks for the betterment of the country and it Constitution and so do I. So, there as never been any question of any differences between us," Shah said.
Asked how both leaders complement each other, Shah said both leaders contribute to each other in different ways.
"I contribute by trying my best to work towards achieving the goals set by PM Modi along with our party leaders. That is my way of contributing to him. On othe other hand, by forgiving the small mistakes of party workers like me and others, and helping them improve is his manner of contributing to us," he said.
Shah, however, said that he isn't the only party worker who are associated with the Prime Minister. "There are thousands of party workers like me who owe their association with the party as well as their thought process to think big and in the interest of the nation to PM Modi."
Shah said that this was the very reason why despite facing defeat in multiple elections, the BJP never disintegrated. "We lost elections, but were never wiped out. The Congress lost elections in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and got wiped out, but we didn't. It is only because our party workers work towards a shared ideology, the nation and for the Constitution," Shah said.
