As 11 people died and several others were injured in a stampede that broke out near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy stadium amid RCB's IPL victory celebrations, BJP slammed Congress for its "irresponsibility", "poor planning and crowd mismanagement".
The Karnataka unit of BJP took to X and posted, "7 dead. Many are battling for life after a stampede due to the irresponsibility of Congress govt. No crowd control measures. No basic arrangements. Just chaos."

"While innocent people died, @siddaramaiah & @DKShivakumar were busy shooting reels & hogging limelight with cricketers. Shame on this photo-op Congress government. This is criminal negligence. Blood is on the hands of Congress govt," it added.
BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya also took to X and tore into Congress-led state government. He said, "Tragic stampede in Bengaluru. A celebration has turned into a nightmare. At an event organised by the Karnataka State Government to celebrate RCB’s IPL campaign, a stampede broke out due to poor planning and crowd mismanagement.."
Tragic stampede in Bengaluru. Further demanding accountability, Malviya said, "This heartbreaking incident could have been avoided. The lack of basic administrative foresight and failure in crowd control by the state government has led to an irreparable loss. Accountability must be fixed. Lives were lost due to negligence, not chance."
Organised by the Karnataka government, the event was meant to honour the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) maiden victory in IPL 2025. Thousands of people had gathered on the streets of Bengaluru to cheer for the RCB champions, including Virat Kohli.
The stampede broke out during the felicitation of the team by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Union minister HD Kumaraswamy also slammed Karnataka Congress and said, “The primary reason for this massive tragedy is the lack of proper planning and the complete failure to take precautionary measures. The state government, led by @INCKarnataka, must take full responsibility for this disaster.”
