Bharatiya Janata Party's Dilip Ghosh will be marrying his party colleague Rinku Majumdar today. Both will tie the knot in a simple vedic ceremony at Ghosh's residence. Ahead of the wedding, bride-to-be Rinku Majumdar has spilled beans on how the duo met and who proposed marriage to whom.
While talking to News 18, Majumdar said that she was the one to make the first move and propose to Dilip. "Since 2013, I’ve been associated with the BJP organizationally. When he was an MLA-MP, I never spoke to him. At that time, I worked at the block level. We first spoke just before the 2021 elections at Eco Park—very casually. During this Lok Sabha election, we spoke a bit more. Very ordinary interactions, nothing beyond that," Majumdar said.
Further she said that she wanted to marry someone from the New Town area and desired a partner who would be understanding and accepting of her political career. "Around mid-September, when I was thinking about settling down, I proposed to him. My conditions were: it has to be someone within New Town, and he must accept my political career. While thinking through all this, he came to mind. He is the most eligible bachelor in my constituency. He’s not like the usual political figures. He’s a very good person—very honest, strong. I really liked these qualities and thought, why not propose to him," Majumdar was quoted as saying by News 18.
Rinku said that Dilip did not say yes to her marriage proposal right away and responded to her after three months. She added that he spoke to his mother before saying yes to her.
She further said that Dilip made a well-informed decision about marrying her after thinking for months about the duo's compatibility and then finally said yes after consulting his mother. She also said that Dilip is very concerned about his mother and often worries who would take care of her if he's not around.
The duo knows each other since 2013 but started talking properly only in 2021.
