Amid the raging three-language row, Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu and highlighted Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) contribution to Tamil language.

While addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarter in Chennai, Amit Shah said, "The BJP respects Tamil language, Tamil people and Tamil culture." He also accused Chief Minister MK Stalin of ignoring key demands related to Tamil medium education in professional courses.

“Wherever there is an NDA government, students can study medicine and engineering in their mother tongue. But I have been asking Stalin for the last three years to implement this in Tamil Nadu,” Shah said. “Can Stalin say what he has done for Tamil?”

Shah also accused the DMK of large-scale corruption. “DMK government has been involved in liquor, sand mining, cash-for-job, MNREGA and more on Rs 39,000 crore,” he alleged, adding, “now Stalin and Udhayanidhi should give answers to all this.”

"They (DMK and opposition parties) are raising the issues of delimitation and NEET to distract the people... We will sit with AIADMK (since their stand on these issues is different from the BJP-led NDA) and discuss with them on these issues and if needed, there will be a common minimum programme," he added.

During the press conference alongside Edapaddi K Palaniswami, Amit Shah announced BJP-AIADMK alliance and said they would jointly contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
