Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav bounced back to victory after early scares of trailing behind in the Raghopur seat in the Bihar elections. The counting of votes in the polls began at 8 am on Friday after the state voted in two phases - on November 11 and November 14.
Early trends that came in once the voting started in Bihar on Friday, Raghopur presented an unexpected scare for Yadav after his staedy lead, with him trailing behind Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP) Satish Kumar.
However, as the day progressed, Tejashwi's numbers started rising and he eventually closed the day with a win in the Raghopur seat.
Yadav secured a total of 1,18,597 votes. He was trailed by BJP's Satish Kumar, who secured 1,04,065 votes.
Tejashwi, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face and Lalu’s chosen successor in the party, had held a steady lead in Raghopur through the morning. However, by 11.30 am, the numbers flipped and Yadav was left trailing by 3,016 votes.
Bihar elections 2025
While the counting of votes is still underway, NDA is currently taking a massive lead, eyeing victory in the state. Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi both took to X to congratulate the people of Bihar and claim the NDA's victory in the state.
"Every single vote of the people of Bihar is a symbol of faith in the Modi government's policy against infiltrators who play with India's security and resources, and their sympathisers. The public has given a befitting reply to those who protect infiltrators for the sake of vote banks," the Home Minister further said in his X post.
"Good governance has won. Development has won. The spirit of public welfare has won. Social justice has won," PM Modi posted on X.
"This resounding mandate will empower us to serve the people and work with a new resolve for Bihar," the Prime Minister added.
