Bihar Election 2025 News Live: RJD releases list of 143 candidates; PM Modi to begin campaigning from October 24

The announcement from the JMM came just two days after the Hemant Soren-led party said that it would go solo in Bihar and contest the elections in six assembly segments as the seat-sharing talks failed.

The party’s ticket distribution reflects a careful balance — keeping its core "MY" (Muslim-Yadav) base intact while including other backward and upper-caste candidates, and fielding 21 women, more than the JD(U) and BJP.

While the Congress talks of a way to avoid it, the party has signalled its rancour by continuing to withhold assent to Tejashwi Yadav being the Opposition's Chief Ministerial candidate.

RJD releases its list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, fielding candidates in 143 seats. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will contest from the Raghopur assembly seat in Vaishali district.

Former MP and BJP candidate Sunil Kumar Pintu responds to Tejashwi Yadav's remarks that the NDA is copying RJD schemes, says, "They have no plans or vision, all they can do is claim that NDA is copying their ideas. When they were in power, their focus was on kidnapping and criminal activities. If they had any real plans, they would have introduced them then. They are simply repeating what our government is already doing."

On the seat sharing in the Mahagathbandhan, Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnea, says, "If I were the one who could take decisions, wouldn't I get a single seat? The Congress party works on ideologies, and it is a disciplined party... I am saying again and again that bring back the alliance... The alliance is being weakened. Who is behind this? Tickets are being distributed until morning... I consider this wrong. Only Congress is following the alliance dharma... Congress has tried to focus on extremely backward castes, SC-ST classes..."

The Congress on Monday released another list of six candidates for the Bihar Assembly polls, taking the total number of contenders to 60.

Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dilip Jaiswal on Monday reaffirmed "rock solid" unity of the NDA alliance like the "Pandavas" ahead of the Bihar Assembly election.

Dilip Jaiswal was reffering to the five constituents of the NDA alliance: BJP, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), as Pandavas from the Mahabharat.
