UNESCO has added Bhagvad Gita and Natyashastra to its Memory of World Register. PM Modi lauded the move and said that it is a proud moment for all Indians.

Bhagavad Gita, Natyashastra added to UNESCO’s Memory Of World Register

Shrimad Bhagvad Gita and Bharat Muni's Natyashastra have been added to UNESCO's Memory of the World Register. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to and celebrated this news, terming it a proud moment for every Indian.

"The inclusion of the Gita and Natyashastra in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register is a global recognition of our timeless wisdom and rich culture. The Gita and Natyashastra have nurtured civilisation, and consciousness for centuries. Their insights continue to inspire the world," PM Modi's X post read.

While sharing the celebratory X post, PM Modi tweeted Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's post. "A historic moment for Bharat’s civilisational heritage! The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita & Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra are now inscribed in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register. This global honour celebrates India’s eternal wisdom & artistic genius," Shekhawat's X post read.

"These timeless works are more than literary treasures—they are philosophical and aesthetic foundations that have shaped Bharat’s world view and the way we think, feel, live, and express. With this, we now 14 inscriptions from our country on this international register," he further wrote.

UNESCO, on Thursday, said that it has added 74 new entries in its Memory of World Register. The total number of inscribed collections have now reached 570, reports have said.
