Beyond Bengaluru: Karnataka cabinet approves tech park in Mangaluru on PPP model

Karnataka Cabinet on October 9 approved the development of 3.285 acres on Blueberry Hills Road, Derebail, Mangaluru, for a commercial office tech park under the PPP model.

Karnataka cabinet on October 9 approved the development of 3.285 acres on Blueberry Hills Road, Derebail, Mangaluru, for a commercial office tech park under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Karnataka IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge said the Cabinet has decided to develop survey nos. 129 and 113 at Blueberry Hills Road, Derebail, Mangaluru Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District, as a 'commercial office tech park' on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.

Moneycontrol had reported in July 2024 that Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS) had decided to monetise its land holdings in Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, and Devanahalli near Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

KEONICS had identified several prime locations: 5 acres in Hebbal Industrial Estate, Mysuru; 3.35 acres on Blueberry Hills Road, Mangaluru; 37,028 sq ft in the Software Technology Parks of India, Hubballi; and 12 acres in the Hi-tech Defence Zone and Aerospace Park, Devanahalli, for land monetisation.
