Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Friday in a regulatory filing has said that it has signed a contract worth Rs 1,640 crore (excluding taxes) with the Ministry of Defence for the supply of state-of-the-art Air Defence Fire Control Radars to the Indian Army.
The advanced radar systems, designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by BEL, are built to deliver robust air defence capabilities under diverse operational conditions. These indigenously developed systems offer round-the-clock surveillance, target acquisition, tracking, and control of air defence guns, ensuring effective response to aerial threats, even in adverse weather.
Equipped with inbuilt Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) features, the radars are designed to operate seamlessly in hostile electronic environments. Their modular architecture enhances operational flexibility, allowing for ease of deployment, operation, and maintenance in dynamic field conditions.
BEL shares extended decline to third straight session to settle lower in Friday's trade at Rs 395.6 per share on the NSE, down 0.67 percent.
