A private medical college in Rajasthan's Udaipur is seeing widespread protests after a final-year BDS student from Jammu and Kashmir allegedly died by suicide in her hostel room.

The incident took place on Thursday night. Her roommate found her hanging and alerted the hostel authorities.

The cops found a suicide note at the spot where the student allegedly accused the faculty of mentally harassing students and not conducting examinations on time, the officials said, according to a report by News18.

As the incident came to light, the students carried out a protest march at the college and blocked a road outside, as they demanded action against the teachers who were mentioned in the student, Sweta Singh's note.

“The matter is being investigated by the police, and they will take appropriate action based on their findings. The college management is also addressing the situation and will terminate the staff members involved," the director told reporters, news agency PTI reported.

SHO Sukher Police Station Ravindra Charan said that the student’s body was shifted to a mortuary, and a postmortem will be conducted after the arrival of her family members.
