Ahead of the 126-member assembly elections in Assam, the Trinamool Congress released its initial list of 17 candidates, with state senior vice-president Dulu Ahmed among the prominent names. Ahmed is set to contest from Chamaria.
Polling will take place on April 9, while counting is scheduled for May 4.
The National People’s Party has also entered the fray with three candidates. Among them is Aminul Islam, an AIUDF MLA who recently changed allegiance. “Islam will contest from his constituency Mankachar.” The party has additionally nominated Daniel Langthasa from Haflong and Ganseng B Sangma from Boko-Chaygaon.
Other TMC nominees include Udangsri Narzary (Kokrajhar), Mominur Islam (Bilasipara), Kaushik Ranjan Das (Abhayapuri), Kalyani Kalita (Bajali), Rajan Chouhan (Goreswar), Hare Krishna Deka (Mangaldai), and Faziur Rahman Laskar (Katigorah).
