The 'Adopt a Heritage 2.0' project, which aims to collaborate with corporate entities to safeguard historical monuments, was unveiled by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) on September 4 at Samvet Auditorium, New Delhi.
Through this initiative, the ASI welcomes corporate stakeholders to improve monument facilities by utilizing their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
In addition, 'Indian Heritage,' a user-friendly mobile application intended to display India's cultural heritage locations, was launched. Also, an online site www.asipermissionportal.gov.in for requesting permission for photography, filmmaking, and development projects on monuments was also unveiled.
The ASI safeguards 3696 monuments across India. According to the culture ministry, these locations serve as a showcase for the country's rich cultural legacy and also spur economic development.
The selection process will involve careful consideration, discussions with multiple stakeholders, and an evaluation of the economic and developmental prospects associated with each monument, the ministry's statement said.
This programme is an improved version of the previous plan launched in 2017. It lays out specific specifications for a range of amenities in compliance with the AMASR Act of 1958 for various monuments.
Stakeholders can submit adoption ideas through a dedicated website, www.indianheritage.gov.in for either the entire monument or specific amenities at a monument. The portal offers thorough details about monuments that are up for adoption, including gap analyses and projected prices for necessary facilities.
