A jawan was killed during gunfight with Pakistani infiltrators as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. The infiltration bid was foiled in the Churunda area of Uri.
In what is the first major provocation by Pakistan since Operation Sindoor, Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar was killed in action while "performing operational duty", Chinar Corps said.
Indian Army officials said that they had killed two terrorists in the same area a few days ago and search operations are still going on in the area.

NDTV reported Army sources as saying that Pak infiltrators tried to sneak into India late on August 12 and the intruders received support in the form of backing fire from the Pakistan Army.
The sources added that such infiltration attempts are typically carried out with the support of Pakistan's Border Action Teams (BAT).
