Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday held a 'Sahkar Samvaad'

Union Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday revealed his retirement plans.

"I have decided that after retirement, I will dedicate the rest of my life to studying Vedas, Upanishads, and natural farming," said Shah while holding a 'Sahkar Samvaad' with women from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other cooperative workers.

Before the interaction, the office of Amit Shah in a post on X in Hindi said, "The Ministry of Cooperation is strengthening the country's economy along with the rural economy by empowering farmers in line with Modi ji's vision of 'Prosperity through Cooperation.' In the Modi government, the cooperative sector has become a strong medium for women's self-reliance."

Earlier, on the occasion of the fourth foundation day of the Ministry of Cooperation, a grand Sakhkar Samelan was organised in Anand, known as the Milk Capital of India, in the presence of  Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Shah is scheduled to chair the Eastern Zonal Council meeting in Ranchi on July 10 in which about 70 representatives from the four eastern states -- Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal -- are expected to participate, an official told PTI on Wednesday.

Security has been beefed up in Ranchi in view of the meeting and Shah is scheduled to arrive in the state capital on Wednesday evening. Under Sections 15 to 22 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956, five zonal councils were established in the country.

The Union home minister is the chairperson of these five zonal councils, and the chief ministers/lieutenant governors/administrators of the member states and Union territories are the members.

Shah also expressed deep sorrow over the Gambhira bridge collapse in Gujarat's Vadodara district, in which nine people lost their lives.

Taking to X,  Shah assured that the NDRF team has begun rescue and relief work at the accident site. He also offered condolences to the victim's family.

"The accident that occurred in Vadodara district of Gujarat is very tragic. The NDRF team has reached the accident site and is engaged in relief and rescue operations, and all possible assistance is being provided to the victims. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones in this accident. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured," Shah said.
