Amid IndiGo crisis, Southern Railway adds new coaches to 16 trains to ease passenger rush | Check full list here

In view of the ongoing IndiGo flight disruptions, Southern Railway on Friday announced the addition of new coaches in at least 16 trains in order to ease the difficulty of passengers and clear the extra rush.

This comes as more than 1,000 IndiGo flights were cancelled across the country amid. The crisis at IndiGo stems from new regulations that boost pilots' weekly rest requirements by 12 hours to 48 and allow only two night-time landings per week, down from six. IndiGo has attributed the mass cancellations to "misjudgment and planning gaps".

For the past 2-3 days, IndiGo flights across the country, including in major cities like Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, have been cancelled leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

Here's the list of trains getting additional coaches:

1. Train No. 12243 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Coimbatore Shatabdi Express journey commencing on 07th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Chair Car Coach.

2. Train No. 12244 Coimbatore – Dr MGR Chennai Central Shatabdi Express journey commencing on 07th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Chair Car Coach.

3. Train No. 12695 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express journey commencing from 07th to 11th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach.

4. Train No. 12696 Thiruvananthapuram Central - Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express journey commencing from 08th to 12th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach.

5. Train No. 16866 Thanjavur – Chennai Egmore Uzhavan Express journey commencing on 07th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

6. Train No. 20635 Chennai Egmore – Kollam Anantapuri Express journey commencing on 08th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

7. Train No. 20636 Kollam – Chennai Egmore Anantapuri Express journey commencing on 09th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

8. Train No. 16865 Chennai Egmore – Thanjavur Uzhavan Superfast Express journey commencing on 10th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

9. Train No. 22153 Chennai Egmore – Salem Superfast Express journey commencing on 06th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

10.Train No. 22154 Salem – Chennai Egmore Express journey commencing on 07th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

11. Train No. 22639 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Alappuzha Superfast Express journey commencing on 06th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

12. Train No. 22640 Alappuzha – Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express journey commencing on 07th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

13. Train No. 22649 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Erode Yercaud Superfast Express journey commencing on 06th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

14. Train No. 22650 Erode – Dr MGR Chennai Central Yercaud Superfast Express journey commencing on 07th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Sleeper Class Coach

15. Train No. 12076 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kozhikode Janshatabdi Express journey commencing from 07th to 11th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Chair Car Coach

16. Train No. 12075 Kozhikode - Thiruvananthapuram Central Janshatabdi Express journey commencing from 07th to 11th December, 2025 will be temporarily provided with One additional Chair Car Coach
