All about Turkey’s Asisguard Songar, drone Pakistan used to target India

Forensic investigation of the wreckage of the drones is being done. Initial reports suggest that they are Turkish Asisguard Songar drones

In a major escalation along India's western front, the Pakistani army carried out multiple airspace violations and drone intrusions on the night of May 7 and 8, targeting Indian military infrastructure with Turkish-made Asisguard Songar model drones. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi revealed that 300 to 400 drones were deployed across 36 locations, with several being shot down by India

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said, "The Indian armed forces shot down many of these drones using kinetic and non-kinetic means. The possible purpose of such large-scale aerial intrusions was to test air defence systems and collect intelligence. Forensic investigation of the wreckage of the drones is being done. Initial reports suggest that they are Turkish Asisguard Songar drones."

The Songar drones are made by Turkish firm Asisguard, and it is an armed drone that can be used to detect and destroy the target. According to the Turkish manufacturer, Songar drones can come with an integrated automatic machine gun and grenade launcher.

The company also says that Songar drones have a system capable of real-time image transmission. The drones can perform critical tasks such as detecting the target area, neutralising the threat, post-operation damage detection and real-time image transmission, according to the company.

The drones can be used in border and cross-border security operations with the integration of land vehicles, with a high number of shells from the air against ambush or threats, and for offensive purposes when necessary, the company said in its official website.

The Indian Armed Forces also successfully neutralised Pakistan military's attempts at a large-scale drone and missile attack on multiple Indian military installations across Northern and Western India during the night of May 7-8, and an Air Defence system at Lahore was neutralised.
