Air India Express flight makes hard landing at Phuket airport over nose wheel damage, runway shut

The aircraft, registration VT-BWQ, reportedly had a detached wheel, believed to be caused by a hard landing.

An Air India Express flight made a hard landing, suffering a nose wheel problem and disrupting arriving flights at the Phuket International Airport on Wednesday.

The Air India Express Boeing 737 MAX 8 took off from Hyderabad and landed in Phuket where it suffered a problem on the runway. The aircraft, registration VT-BWQ, reportedly had a detached wheel, believed to be caused by a hard landing.

Authorities suspended flight operations at Phuket airport following the incident since the aircraft is stuck on the runway, sources said, PTI reported.

The number of passengers onboard the Boeing 737-Max8 aircraft was not immediately known, however, any reports of injuries have not been received so far.
