Faisal Patel, son of late Congress stalwart Ahmed Patel, has praised the Narendra Modi government over the handling of Operation Sindoor that targeted terror infrastructures in Pakistan. He also clarified that he is not upset with Congress and has taken a break from public life.

His statements came months after he announced to stop working for Congress, claiming that he tried to follow in his father’s footsteps but was denied at every step.

The late Ahmed Patel was a three-time Lok Sabha MP from Gujarat’s Bharuch and a Rajya Sabha member for about three decades. He was former UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's political advisor and Congress's key crisis manager.

Ahmed Patel died in November 2020 due to Covid.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls last year, the grand old party did not field a candidate in Bharuch due to a poll understanding with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This disappointed Patel’s son, Faisal and daughter, Mumtaz. AAP eventually lost the election to BJP.

Earlier this year, Faisal took to X and wrote he had decided to stop working for Congress. “With great pain & anguish, I have decided to stop working for @INCIndia. It’s been a tough journey for many, many years. My late father @ahmedpatel gave his entire life working for the country, party & the #Gandhi family,” Faisal announced on X.

“I tried following his footsteps but was denied every step of the way. I will continue to work for mankind in any way possible. The Congress party will remain my family as it has always been,” he added.

Now, he has said he is not upset with Congress at all. "The whole party is my family, and I have good relations with the senior leaders of the party. I am still in the Congress party. I have not left Congress, I have just taken a sabbatical from public life. The people of Gujarat and the local leaders have wonderful things to say about me," he was quoted as saying by ANI.

He also praised the Centre’s handling of Operation Sindoor and added that the country is in the safe hands because of its Armed Forces.

"The armed forces have done a great job, and PM Narendra Modi showed great leadership and brought us out of a huge crisis. How Modi ji picks up bureaucrats and makes them leaders and puts them in ministry roles, is a very good thing," Faisal told ANI.

"Our country is in safe hands because of our Armed Forces. I feel that the leaders who are running the country right now, Narendra Modi, Dr S Jaishankar, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Sudhanshu Trivedi, are working hard. We have our problems like inflation, unemployment, and others, but they are doing a good job," he said.
