The Punjab Police have withdrawn personnel assigned to provide security for former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, according to the state police chief on Thursday.
"Time to time, we get reports of threats to chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal and we share them with the concerned agencies," Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
"Following the directions of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission today, we withdrew the component of the Punjab police in the security of Kejriwal ji," he said.
The development comes as Delhi is set to hold Assembly elections on February 5, with results scheduled for February 8, marking a key political event in the region.
