AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed Sri Sri Ravi Shankar over the comments he made for the India-Pakistan match that is being held in Dubai today.
While speaking about BCCI's decision to permit India to play with Pakistan in the match, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, "Games should be left to us. Politics should not enter the games. But unfortunately, that is not the case now. I will leave the decision to the young people of our country. If they want to play, nobody should stop them. Games unite people from all over the world...Players are not politicians, they are free...We should explore every avenue in which we can bring more peace to society."
Calling him out on this, Owaisi mocked him and said that instead of US President Donald Trump, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar should be the one to get a Nobel Prize.
"This man was threatening civil war in India over the Babri Masjid issue. He has converted into a peacenik now. Instead of Trump, but he can apply for the Nobel Peace Prize. God save India from such ‘nationalists'," he wrote in an X post on Sunday.
The upcoming Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan in Dubai has sparked a major political controversy, with opposition parties taking to the streets in protest, the government insisting the match is a sporting necessity, and families of the April Pahalgam terror attack victims voicing their anguish.
“When we got to know the India vs Pakistan match is being organised, we were very disturbed. No sort of connection should remain with Pakistan... If you want to play the match, bring me back my 16-year-old brother who was shot with so many bullets... Operation Sindoor seems to be a waste now,” Sawan Parmar told ANI, who lost his father and brother in the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
