In multiple posts on X, Khan accused the airline of bias and challenged it to blacklist her as a passenger.

BJP Minority Leader Nazia Elahi Khan, on Monday, intensified her allegations against IndiGo, hours after accusing the airline’s staff of harassment at Mumbai airport. Taking to social media, Khan launched a sharp attack on the carrier’s ownership and recruitment practices and publicly dared IndiGo to bar her from flying.

Taking to microblogging site X, in a slew of posts, Khan accused the airline of bias and challenged it to blacklist her as a passenger.

“The owner of IndiGo should listen to their supporters and blacklist me, because I am not going to keep quiet,” she wrote, shortly after sharing a video of a confrontation with airline staff that has since gone viral.

Sharpening her criticism, Khan alleged that the airline favoured Muslim employees and claimed she was being targeted for speaking out.

“Now I am beginning to understand how IndiGo operates and how deep the airline owner’s relationship with Muslims is,” she said in a video message, adding that she would continue to speak out despite alleged threats. “Even if I receive threats asking me to delete what I have posted, I will not remain silent,” she said.

However, some of Khan’s remarks, including comments on the airline’s hiring practices, drew criticism online for being provocative and communal in nature.

The controversy gathered momentum after the video shared by Khan showed her involved in a heated argument with IndiGo staff on the airport tarmac at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Raised voices can be heard in the footage as the exchange escalates.

The clip ends with Khan making a remark referring to staff members by common Muslim names, triggering sharp reactions on social media.

While some users questioned the conduct of the airline staff seen in the video, others criticised Khan’s language and tone, saying the remarks crossed the line and diverted attention from the original allegation of harassment.

Khan has maintained that she was deliberately mistreated during her journey and alleged that the behaviour of airline personnel caused her “serious inconvenience and mental stress”.
