Days after a Congress leader stirred controversy with remarks about Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, another leader from the party has caused an uproar with comments about actress Madhuri Dixit.

Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Tika Ram Jully recently criticised the state government for allocating more than Rs 100 crore towards the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards event hosted in Jaipur on March 8 and 9.

Jully, in a jibe at the IIFA awards guest list, alleged that the event lacked the presence of any major Bollywood stars.

Reacting to a BJP legislator's reference to Madhuri Dixit's presence at the IIFA Awards, Jully reportedly described the Hindi film actress as a "Grade II actress."

“Only Shah Rukh Khan was among the first-grade actors,” he said referring to the IIFA 2025 guest list.

This comes a few days after Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed sparked controversy through her comments on India skipper Rohit Sharma. In a post on her X account, Mohamed referred to Rohit Sharma as "overweight" and "the most unimpressive captain India has ever had".

"Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had," read her now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter).

Congress had disassociated itself from her remarks saying they do not reflect the party's position and asked her to delete the concerned post.
