In what may be seen as a continuation of pointed attacks on the Aam Aadmi Party, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, in an exclusive interview to Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, expressed concern over the security situation in Delhi and alleged the the ruling AAP dispensation is deliberately involved in changing the capital's demography for political gains.
He also accused AAP of helping illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas to settle down in the Okhla area. "They settled Bangladeshi infiltrators, Rohingyas in the national capital. These Bangladeshi infiltrators are being given Aadhaar cards through Aadhaar-making machines in the houses of Aam Aadmi Party leaders," remarked the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
Highlighting the poor civic upkeep in the city, Yogi Adityanath challenged the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leaders to take a dip in river Yamuna similar to the one taken by UP CM and his cabinet colleagues in Triveni Sangam in the ongoing Maha Kumb Mela in Prayagraj.
"I along with all my ministers took a holy dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj where Mahakumbh is on. I want to ask Kejriwal whether he can bathe in the Yamuna in Delhi along with his ministers. He should answer if he has any moral courage," Yogi remarked during the interview.
Drawing a comparison, the UP CM said: Delhi’s Okhla industrial area is in shambles due to a lack of facilities. While AAP hindered industrial growth, they facilitated the settlement of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators. In contrast, Uttar Pradesh’s New Okhla region (Noida) is a prime example of development," said Adityanath, who is among the list of star campaigners for Delhi polls.
Speaking on the the issue of education and the budgetary allocation to the education sector, he said the Uttar Pradesh government's outlay for the sector is much more than the AAP government in Delhi. In a sharp remark, he said if the Delhi's education minister visits Uttar Pradesh, he will definitely learn something from the neighbouring state. The Aam Aadmi Party has made 'improvement of public schools and the revolution in Delhi school education' a major poll planking moving into the February 5 elections.
Delhi Election 2025 is scheduled for February 5. The results will be announced on February 8. While AAP has won last two elections, the BJP has been out of power in Delhi for 27 years.
