The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday said that electoral rolls have been trimmed by 52.3 lakh in Bihar and 97.90% of voters have been covered under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
The poll body said that out of 52.3 lakh voters trimmer, over 18 lakh have been reported deceased while over 26 lakh have permanently shifted. Others include around 7.5 lakh voters who are registered at multiple places and over 10,000 were not traceable.
"Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of voter list in Bihar | Only 2.70% Electors remaining to fill the form. As of today, 97.30% of the existing electors have given their Enumeration Form to be included in the draft Electoral-Roll to be published on 1st August, 2025," Election Commission said in its statement.

The revision exercise, which began following the Commission’s June 24 order, aims to ensure an accurate and updated voter list ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
The Commission has announced that the draft electoral roll will be published on August 1, and a full month will be provided for public feedback and corrections. Political parties and voters will be able to raise objections or request inclusions and rectifications.
To assist with this process, lists of voters deemed deceased, shifted, or duplicated are being shared with district party presidents and 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs). These agents are authorised to verify and certify up to 50 forms each day until July 25.
As with the draft roll, political parties will receive both print and digital versions of the final list at no cost, and it will be made publicly available online.
