The Centre on Wednesday confirmed that 611 seafarers aboard 22 Indian-flagged vessels in the western Strait of Hormuz are safe.
Speaking at an inter-ministerial media briefing, Sinha, Special Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, stated that LPG carriers Shivalik and Nanda Devi have started discharging cargo. He also confirmed that no congestion has been reported at any port. "We have our discussion going on with Iran and other counterparts for safe passage of ships via Strait of Hormuz," he said.
The Indian-flagged crude oil tanker 'Jag Laadki' also arrived at Adani Ports Mundra in Gujarat on Wednesday.
It carried approximately 80,886 metric tonnes (MT) of crude oil, sourced from the UAE, and loaded at Fujairah Port.
Nanda Devi LPG tanker on Tuesday arrived at Vadinar (Jamnagar) port in Gujarat just a day after Shivalik reached India.
His comment came after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its 'pre-war state'.
According to officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, about 2,20,000 Indians have returned to the country since February 28, when the conflict first erupted in the region.
