The Indian Air Force’s latest technical analysis shows Pakistan lost six combat jets, several cruise missiles and more than 10 combat drones during the Operation Sindoor counterattacks between May 7 and May 10.
The report comes a day after Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said that India will be sharing the details regarding Pakistan losses. While no official statement has been released so far, several media reports have emerged giving details on how India shot down Pakistani fighter jets.
As per news agency ANI, India’s coordinated military offensive featuring surface-to-air and cruise missiles at the peak of standoff destroyed wide-ranging military infrastructure in heart of Pakistan. The report also said that over 10 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles were also destroyed in Indian strikes.
Apart from the combat jets, India destroyed C-130 transport aircraft and a high-value aerial asset, an ANI report said.
Citing defence sources, the ANI report further said that the strike by India’s Sudarshan air defence system at a distance of roughly 300 km completely destroyed an aerial asset - either Airborne Early Warning or Control Aircraft or electronic counter measures aircraft. The strikes at the Bholari airbase took down a Swedish-origin AWEC aircraft.
Additionally, the defence sources told ANI that Indian Air Force used air-launched cruise missiles to target Pakistani airbases. The report also said that surface-to-surface BrahMos missiles were not used in the strikes.
The sources also said that during one of the strikes carried out by Su-30 and Rafale fighter planes, a critical number of Chinese Wing Loong series medium altitude long endurance drones were destroyed.
Pakistan has also admitted the losses. An official dossier by Shehbaz Sharif government reportedly showed the sites that were struck during Operation Sindoor. These included Bahawalnagar, Chhor, Peshawar. It should be noted that the Pakistani forces have not mentioned these locations in their media addresses.
