39-year-old man rapes his 65-year-old mother to 'punish her for past relationships' in Delhi, arrested

The Delhi Police, on Sunday, arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother twice. The man claimed that he raped his mother in order to punish her for an alleged relationship that she had in the past, news agency PTI reported.

The incident came to light after the woman approached the police with her 25-year-old daughter at the Hauz Qazi police station to make a complaint against her son. Reports have said that the man raped his mother shortly after the family came after completing a religious trip to Saudi Arabia.

The complaint said that the woman lives with her husband, who is a retired government employee, her younger daughter and the son who assaulted her. She also has an elder daughter who's married and lives with her in-laws.

The woman told the police that she travelled to Saudi Arabia on July 17 with her husband and younger daughter but their son called his father during the trip and asked them to return home immediately. He also asked his father to divorce his mother, claiming that she had illicit affairs during his childhood.

The woman further said in her complaint that the family returned to Delhi on August 1, following which, her son locked her in a room, forced her to remove her burqa and beat her. He also told her that she had "spoiled" him in childhood. After this, the woman went to stay with her elder daughter but returned to her home on August 11. The woman said that the abuse continued after that, police confirmed, as per the information reported by PTI.

Reportedly, the son told the family that he wanted to speak to his mother privately and locked her in a room again. He then raped her and stated that she was being punished for her "past relationships". He raped her at 3:30 am on August 14 for the second time.

The woman then told her younger daughter, who urged that they should report the incident to the police, following which, both of them approached the police to make a complaint against the son. The police then registered a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the accused was arrested.
