At least three BSF jawans were killed and 13 others injured when the truck they were traveling in fell into a gorge in Changoubung village, Senapati district, Manipur, according to an official.
The official reported that two of the personnel died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.
A large contingent of BSF soldiers has been deployed in Manipur in response to the ongoing violence.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the district hospital in Senapati, the official said.
The condition of some of the injured BSF personnel is reported to be serious.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a quick recovery to the injured.
“Manipur Governor, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Changoubung village, Senapati district, where three BSF personnel lost their lives. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Raj Bhavan said in a post on X.
