A 20-year-old married woman was brutally murdered by her lover in a lodge in Karnataka’s Mysuru district after a heated quarrel spiralled into violence. The accused allegedly killed her by forcing an explosive powder stick into her mouth.
The incident took place on Monday at Bherya village in Saligrama taluk. The victim, Rakshita, a resident of Gerasanahalli in Hunsur taluk, was married to a migrant worker in Kerala but was also in a relationship with the accused, Siddaraju, from Bettadapura village in Periyapatna taluk.
Police said the couple had checked into a lodge when an argument broke out. In a shocking turn, Siddaraju allegedly used a chemical powder stick to kill her. He then tried to mislead others by claiming Rakshita had died in a mobile phone blast.
Locals grew suspicious and caught Siddaraju as he attempted to flee, handing him over to the police. He has since been arrested by the Saligrama police.
According to an India Today report, Mysuru Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishnuvardhana N confirmed the arrest, stating, “The victim was married to someone working in Kerala but was in a relationship with the accused. He used a chemical powder combination to kill her. The substance has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.”
