A 20-year-old woman was admitted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital on Sunday after suffering acid burns in Ashok Vihar in Delhi, news agency ANI quoted police officials as saying. The victim, who is a second-year student residing in Mukundpur, said the attack occurred while she was walking towards Laxmi Bai College.

According to police, three men on a motorcycle approached her. One of them, named Arman, allegedly threw acid on her after receiving the bottle from another accomplice, Ishan, while the third, Jitender, who is reportedly known to the victim, was also present. The attackers fled the scene immediately, the police told the media.

The woman revealed that Jitender had been stalking her and that a heated argument had taken place about a month ago. She tried to shield her face during the attack, sustaining burns on both hands.

The Crime Team and FSL Team inspected the scene. Based on the victim’s statement and the nature of her injuries, a case under relevant sections of the Burns and Noxious Substances (BNS) Act has been registered. The investigation is ongoing.
