Ranbir to strum six-string with Rahman in 'Rockstar' concert

Mumbai, Oct 29 (PTI) Setting the tone ahead of the release of much-awaited flick 'Rockstar', lead actor Ranbir Kapoor and music director A R Rahman will be performing in a live concert the next week at a suburban college here. Interestingly, this is going to be Ranbir's maiden stage performance and so will be for the music maestro who will perform live in a concert for any film. The 'Rockstar' concert will be held on November 1 at Bhavan's College ground in suburban Andheri here. "Since the film is a story of a performer having a live concert was always on agenda...it was required. At the concert songs from the film will be performed though we not exactly replicate the songs we will just play it live," Director Imtiaz Ali told reporters here. Besides Ranbir and Rahman, lead actress Nargis Fakhri, singer Mohit Chauhan, director Imtiaz Ali, music arranger Ranjit Barot and leading percussionist Sivamani will be part of the live concert. "Ranbir has not performed live to an audience and this makes the concert special. Rahman's music is brilliant and has been liked by everyone. So we thought of doing a concert," Producer Dhillin Mehta of Shree Ashtavinayak said. Ranbir Kapoor, cast in dreadlocks and strumming the six-string in 'Rockstar' which has primarily been shot in New Delhi. It is believed that Ranbir's character in the movie is modelled on the rock legend Jim Morrison of 'The Doors'. The film introduces newcomer Nargis Fakhri and is slated to release on November 11.
