A recent leaked HR memo on Reddit has revealed a startling piece of information that has divided the internet. As per the mail by an American head-hunter, which was ‘accidently’ sent to a jobseeker, former employees of top tech companies such as Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tata, Mahindra are ‘blacklisted’. The list also includes companies such as Cognizant, Cisco, Dell, the Reddit memo read. The ‘secret internal selection guidelines’ has sparked a massive controversy.
The internal memo, that surfaced three days back, exposed strict criteria for selecting the candidates. People from certain universities are reportedly favoured over others. In what can be termed as anti-diversity stance, the memo highlighted marked reference for only American candidates.
Perfect candidates must have a “Bachelors or Masters of Computer Science from a top CS program,” the memo stated with institutions like Carnegie Mellon, MIT, UC Berkeley, University of Waterloo, Caltech, Stanford, UIUC were mentioned as the top choice by the recruiter. "Special exceptions" could be made only for those candidates with 4.0 GPA. The leaked HR mail also added that “absolutely no visa sponsorships” was the policy thereby narrowing the pool of applicants.
The Redditor, who shared the memo, also said that the hiring was restricted to candidates with “4-10 years of software development experience.” Additionally, expertise in AI/LLMs, JavaScript (TypeScript, NodeJS, ReactJS) was also a must. The post quickly went viral with many slamming the exclusionary stance of the recruiter.
